Pool Closure: Whale Tale Water Feature Installation

UPDATE: Please know that the Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center will close the entire aquatic area on Tuesday, February 18th from 9am-1pm. This closure is to saw and remove a portion of the concrete pool deck so we may locate an underground pipe needed to move forward with the installation of our new whale tail water feature.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience as we work to complete this phase of our project!

Except for the 9am-1pm closure of the aquatic area on Tuesday February 18th, the recreation center will be open as scheduled. If you have any questions, please contact the front desk at 307-739-9025 or Rick Smith (Facilities Maintenance Coordinator at 307-732-5763

During last year’s renovation, we removed the waterfall water feature because of deterioration and a desire to improve the facility. Removing the large waterfall structure opens the space for a more friendly, open feel and also provides lines of sight that improve our lifeguards’ ability to keep the pools safe.

The general scope will include one day of demolition, for which the aquatics area will be completely closed to the public. After our demolition, all of the aquatics area will reopen with the exception of the leisure pool. We anticipate the leisure pool will reopen about a week later. During the week that the leisure pool is closed, we will install underground piping, replace the pool deck and renovate a small section of pool tile. Once those construction items are complete, it takes a couple of days to refill, heat and treat the water.

Aquatic Hours of Operation

Friday February 14th – Entire aquatics area closed to the public for demolition
Saturday February 15th – Aquatics area reopens (with exception of the leisure pool)– Due to a Middle School swim meet public swim will not start until 3:30 pm.
