Notice of Intent to Adopt Fees for the Teton County Trash Transfer Facility, Recycling Center, and Household Hazardous Waste Facility

Jackson, Wyo., March 29, 2023 – Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) is proposing to increase fees at the Trash Transfer Facility, Recycling Center, and the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility, beginning May 17th, 2023. ISWR is an enterprise fund within Teton County. As such, ISWR operates as a business within county government, covering all operating and capital expenditures with self-generated revenue from tip fees, the sale of commodities, donations, grants, and fees for services.  ISWR is facing declining revenue due to the contracting economy, an unprecedented inflationary period, and reduced recycling commodity prices. These and other factors necessitated the proposed fee increases.  ISWR has not raised tip fees at the transfer station since July 1, 2021.  Here you can access the current and proposed fees.  Public comment will be accepted over a 45-day period beginning March 29, 2023 and ending May 13, 2023.

The proposed fee increase will impact household hazardous waste disposal, and electronic waste recycling fees. Electronic and hazardous waste is banned from the trash.

Proposed increases to Commercial Corrugated Cardboard Service are also included, while Commercial Food Waste Compost hauling services will remain the same.

In addition to the proposed fee increases, ISWR will be instituting a 2.55% credit/debit card convenience fee with a $2.00 minimum on all credit/debit card payments. E-check convenience fees begin at $2.00, and increase based on the payment amount.  In the past, ISWR absorbed these fees.

A public hearing to consider fees for Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling pursuant of Wyoming Statute §16-3-103 will be held in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Teton County Administration Building at 200 S. Willow Street in Jackson, Wyoming, on May 16, 2023, in a regular meeting that begins at 9:00 a.m.

Comments can be submitted in writing to ISWR Superintendent Brenda Ashworth at P.O. Box 9088, Jackson, WY 83002, via e-mail at bashworth@tetoncountywy.gov, or at the public hearing on May 16, 2023.
