Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department manages a sand based horseback riding arena next door to Owen Bircher park in Wilson. The arena has cow shoots for practicing roping, and several barrels for barrel racing practice. If you want the ability to work on directional changes with your horse or just want to get out and exercise them, then this arena is perfect for that.
The arena is generally open from mid May through the end of October for riding activities, and is scheduled by the hour for group or individual practices for a small fee. Several groups use the arena throughout the summer for their group activities. Lights are also available at the arena for evening riding.
Please call Courtney at 307-732-5751 if you would like to reserve the arena.
In November, dasher boards are erected for winter hockey play. The dasher boards are up throughout the winter and finally melt out by the end of April or beginning of May.
